In May, linemen of Dakota Valley Electric Jeff Sinner of Wahpeton, along with John Schwalk from Milnor, attended what is known as “Rubber Glove School” put on annually by the North Dakota Rural Electric Association.
The classes were held at the Linemen facility that is part of Bismarck State College in Mandan. Instructors taught different procedures for working with “hot lines.” Schwalk was an instructor at the school while others were alongside almost 70 linemen learning those procedures.
I took video footage of them while they were in session and had the opportunity to visit and get to know different linemen from all around the state.
